A prayer for blue Delaney Chapter 7 - Translation - Summary Übersetzung und Zusammenfassung von Kapitel 7 1.

A Prayer for Blue Delaney

Chapter 1:

The first chapter is about a boy named Colm, who is very sad because he has to live in an orphanage. There is also another boy in the orphanage named Dibs.

Colm was only five years old when his mother brought him to the orphanage.

He tries to run away because he would like to live with his mother, but one of the nuns is faster than Colm and can catch him. After that a big and red faced man asks Colm what he knows about Australia. The nun, her name is Clothilde, should bring Dibs and Colm to Australia.

Chapter 2:

In this chapter Colm is already on the ship to Australia. There are some Irish children on the boat too and a boy, who falls down from the railing. Colm saves the boys live, but the kids laugh about him. After that Colm meets Sister Mercia, who is a nun. Later he makes friendship with a boy named Tommy. Tommy is from Belfast and they are eating dinner together.

Chapter 3:

Tommy and Colm make a blood-brotherhood. And Dibs then asked Colm why he did that? He tells him all he knows. Colm thinks back about his family. Sister Mercia plays music with him. The next day he goes to a wedding. The wedding guests are lucky.

Chapter 4:

Colm and Tommy drive to Contarf. There they look around and then a boy asks Dibs, what Colms name is. Suddenly they must take off their clothes - Dibs is not lucky about that, because he can't swim. Colm saves Dibs life. After many hours Colm writes a letter to his mother.

It is important for him. In this letter he writes about his feelings and other personal things. Then he went to bed. He thinks about the orphanage and he hopes that he will never see Sister Clothilde again. Then he does a prayer for it. On the next day he went to school because he would like to go swimming. At school some kids insult him. They call Colm "Pommy-Bastard" and then it all escalates.

Chapter 5:

In the fifth Chapter Colm and Dibs get punished in the dining room, because they tell what happened at the river. The brother says that they are liars. Colm and Dips get hit on their back, but after some moments Colm takes all the guilt on himself, so he alone receives the hits whit a strap.

At the end of the chapter Colm wakes up from a dream. He hurts himself with pieces of glass in his palm and goes to the Matron´s office. He say it`s because of a dream he had in which .....[read full text]

a farmer-prison (nut-house). Colm thinks that Bill is crazy (he says he was the caretaker). Later Bill washed Colms feet and gives him something to eat again. He fell asleep next to Rusty, the dog, in a narrow bunk

Chapter 10:

Colm was sleeping for 15 hours because he is little bit ill. Bill and Rusty meanwhile catch fish for dinner. Later Colm falls into a window and hurt himself as he heard a woman calling him. They see he has straps at his back, so a doctor comes and wants to send Colm back to Bindoon.

But Colm is afraid that the Brothers at Bindoon will kill him, like they killed Tommy. So Bill hides Colm at his home. At Bills house it is very boring; he is alone, plays piano and reads the newspaper. There he reads that the Queen of England comes to Australia now. Colm risks for her to be caught by the police

Chapter 11:

When Rusty & Bill leave, Colm went down to the docks to see the Queen. There he saw Dibs again, who pointed into Colms direction. Colm jumps over a barricade because suddenly the policemen run behind him. Then Rusty comes and bites one of the officers. Colm and Rusty then go home to Bills house.

Colm feels sorry and is afraid that the police would come. Bill wants to shoot at least.

He wants to go back to England. He then plays the piano, so he could remember his mother, but he can’t remember her face any longer.

Chapter 12:

They leave the nut-house and drive away with their truck named Tin Annie. Bill went for hunting so they have something to eat. Bill later cooks a rabbit; Bill and Rusty sleep outside under the sky, only Colm sleeps in the ute. Bill thinks Colm has a fear for snakes.

Later Bill finds out that Colm does not know if he is really Irish. Bill was born in Ireland, so he thinks it is good to help someone. Also his mother died early. On the next morning while Bill& Rusty are still sleeping, Colm finds a book of maps and a black and white photograph with the title; “Blue Delaney(1949) “ Colm likes the idea that this could be his mother, so he puts t.....

Then Bill and Nugget came back and Nugget shouts at Doreen, he wants to get Rosie back. Colm prayed for all of them. Later Colm should call Bill “Granddad”.

Chapter 17:

They drove down an open road to the dog fence to repair it. Suddenly Rusty was bit by a snake, they think he will die. Bill makes cuts behind Rusty’s ears and gave her salty water. The dog survives, and Colm prayed and was sleeping outside under the sky.

Chapter 18

Bill and Colm are going to Alice Springs and stay in a hotel, where Colm could finally get new clothes and a shower. It was the first time that Colm eats in a restaurant, it was awesome for him. In the hotel they met an old mate of Bill, his name is Ted Kelly.

He had a letter for Bill coming from Melbourne. After Bill has read the letter he was very strange. He wanted to bring Colm to an old friend, so that he can live in a normal house and go to school. Colm wasn’t very happy about that because he loves the wilderness and the time with Rusty and his “Granddad” Bill.

Chapter 19

Before leaving Alice Springs they had to bring Tin Annie to a mechanic for repairs. As they left Alice Springs there was just silence in Tin Annie, Bill did not say where they are or when they make a break or eat lunch. Bill drinks more and more beer. Colm threw the bottle-opener away because he doesn’t want Bill to drink more beer.

Then he prayed for Blue Delaney. As Bill saw the picture he asked angrily why Colm has that picture. He took it away from Colm and threw it into the fire and tells Colm something about Blue Delaney. On the next day Bill was still silent. They drove to Pine Creek. In a bar there Bill asked where the boss is. Then they drove to the boss of the bar, Mrs. Mahoney. Annie Mahoney. She was .....

Bill was hurt hard on his leg, so hard that Colm could see his bones. He brought Bill to Tin Annie and drove along the road. But suddenly the car stopped. He tried to start it again but it did not work. So Colm got out and ran to Tara Downs. He told the story as short as possible. They put Colm into the bedroom and called the flying doctor to bring Bill to the hospital in Katherine.

Chapter 22

Bill is getting rescued by an airplane. Colm can’t fly with the airplane. So Colm and Mrs. Mahoney drove with the car to the hospital so they could visit Bill.

Chapter24

Colm meets Blue and they talked about what they can do now. Blue doesn’t know what she can do with Colm now and she is not so happy that Colm is with her.

Chapter 25

They go to the café for tea and toast and Blue reads a letter from Mrs. Mahoney. In the letter she reads that that Colm travelled with Bill for over a year. Then she says that Colm can be like a son for her. Later they play music together, because Colm thinks playing music is a better way to talk to Blue. Mrs. Mahoney pays for Colms School.

Chapter 26

It is the first day that Colm goes to St. Firians College. Every day after school Colm meets Blue at the New Theatre. One day Joe comes to Blue to talk about Bill and her. Blue wants to send Colm to a boarding school, but Colm does not like that idea. On the next day Colm can see Bill. Bill and Blue talk about Colm and they decide that Colm can stay with Blue and he can visit Bill twice a week.

Chapter 27

Bill wants to see Blue, because she was silent for a long time. She says everything is falling apart. One night Joe and Colm went into the hospital, because Bill seemed worse. Blue cried loud. She also slept in the hospital. On the ne.....
