A Prayer for Blue Delaney
The first Chapter is about a boy who calls Colm and who is very sad because he must lives in an orphanage. There is another boy in the orphanage. His name is Dibs.
Colm is 5 years old and his mother brings him into the orphanage.
He runs away because he would like to live with his mother but the nun is faster than Colm and catches him. Then a big red faced man asked Colm what he now about Australia. The nun Clothilde should brings Dibs and Colm to Australia .
In this chapter, Colm is on the ship to Australia. There are some Irish-children and a boy who's falling down from the railing. Colm saves his live . the kids laughing. After this Colm meets Sister Mercia. She is a nun. After few hours he meets Tommy from Belfast again. They are eating dinner together.
Tommy and Colm makes a blood-brotherhood. Then Dibs asks Colm why he does that? He tells him all he knows. Colm thinks back to his family. Sister Mercia plays music with him. The next day he goes to a wedding. The wedding-guests are lucky.
Colm and Tommy drives to Contarf. There they looks around, then a boy asks Dibs, what Colms name is. Suddenly they must takes of their clothes - Dibs aren't lucky about that, because he can't swim. Colm saves Dibs life. After hours, Colm writes a letter to his mother.
It is important for him. In this letter, he writes about his feeling and other personal things. Then he goes to bed. He thinks about the orphanage and he hopes that he will never sees Sister Clothilde again. Then he does a prayer for it. At the next day, he goes to school, he would like to go swimming. At school some kids insults him. They call Colm "Pommy-Bastard".
