Discuss how a particular Law of Physics has changed the world culturally and socially


Taking a glance at the modern world, one can assume that it developed to the present state on its own. But indeed, there were many names of great historical figures and personalities who had a tremendous impact on the erstwhile community, so that we could see it today as it is.

One person whose name is on the tongue of men is Albert Einstein. He had number of works which contributed significantly to the course of history and the world developments of his lifetime. But the most groundbreaking and at the same time most abstruse of those was his theory of relativity.

Although hardly one in every hundred thousand people alive today generally understands what this theory is about (Abraham Pais, 1988). But still its concepts had an impact on scientific thinking till the present time. The main purpose of this paper is to determine how precisely Einstein’s theory of relativity affected society.

The strongest effect of Einstein’s theories of special and general relativity took its place in the scientific world. Its postulates caused reconsideration of the life experience extrapolation to all experience. Abraham Pais (1988) emphasizes that «special relativity taught us to be extremely careful in attempting to extrapolate to things moving nearly as fast as light».

Hence, it could conceivably be suggested that special relativity theory provoked a breakthrough in physics. Brian Greene (2015) highlights that general relativity gave birth in the 1920s to modern cosmology. That implies that the study of the origin and evolution of the entire universe could exist probably only because of Einstein’s theories served a basis.

But Albert Einstein’s theory of special relativity confronted withthat consensual views on gravity as they stated that nothing can travel faster than the speed of light (Brian Greene, 2015).Therefore Einstein’s crucial insights could probably be too radical for conservative customs of that time.

What is most considerable about Einstein and his theories, is that he managed to prove the correctness of his views despite the absolute confrontation with the community. What is culturally important about this is that consequently society was forced to admit that innovative ideas should be given a chance.

The evidence from this paper suggests that Einstein’s relativity theories affected not only scientific thinking but also brought changes to the cultural bias, that only time-honored axioms could prevail. It implies that admission of new scientific ideas could lead to the progress.

Einstein’s impact both scientific and cultural cannot be denied and underestimated. That is the reason why his name is traditionally associated with the concept of genius.
