Final Reflection



Though I have experience in being tutor for primary students, it is my first time to take the role of a teacher and to teach many children at the same time.

This service learning project offers me a valuable chance to experience being a teacher. Besides, I have learned a lot from it no matter in the academic or personal aspect.



As far as I am concerned, the most impressive lesson to me is the last lesson in which my group is responsible for it.

After the first few times of practicum, we got more familiar with the children. However, we still worried about they would be uncontrollable. Since the part of my group mate Cherry was mainly about some news which was relatively boring to them, thus we decided to put her part early in the lesson in which the concentration of the children was still strong.

When it comes to my part, I was glad that they were quite interested in the game of guessing the noise. It was very satisfactory to see that my work could catch the attention of them. Since it was the last lesson, we were responsible to review the content of all lessons. It was in fact an extremely important part because we did not want them to forget all the things we had taught before.

In order to know how much could they absorb from the previous lessons, we invited the children to talk about what they could remember. Delightedly, they could memorize the main point of each lesson. After the lesson, I think there was room for improvement on the time management for our group. At first, we did not pay attention to the time and then we found that we have inadequate time to finish the following part.

Additionally, as a tutor of primary students, it gives me more ideas on teaching.



Apart from the Lingnan students and the primary students, I believe that the community site which is Hing Tak School can also be benefited.

Our method to teach in which we teach students with games may give the teachers new ideas on teaching. The way of traditional teaching may not be the best to the students nowadays. Also, we added some news related to the topics into the curriculum, so as to help the students to apply the knowledge into the reality. Perhaps our teaching materials can be a reference for the teachers when they design theirs.
