It´ll never be the same: Katherine Goodwright
Now it is my taskt to characterzise one of the main characters in the short story “It´ll never be the same“. Jenny, one of the main characters in “It´ll never be the same“ by Katherine Goodwright, is a twenty-five to thirty-year-old woman, who lives with her husband Will in whose inherited house.
Normally she workes as an interior decorator, but currently she is pregnant and in maternity leave. Jenny seems to be a young woman, who has both feet on the ground.
Having a look at the picture Jenny presumably has dark and shoulder-lenght hair, wears a bright buttoned blouse and stands at the window next to bright curtain. Futheron, her facial expression seems hopeful, her dark and painted eyes look forward, Jenny´s well-shaped nose and the red and full mouth – they adorn Jenny´s round face.
She seems to be an attrative young woman.
Jenny and her husband Will live together in Will´s house. It is very important for her to have a good feeling in their home. To feel better, she takes pieces of her furniture into Will´s inherited house. Her reaction makes the reader conclude that she has a preference for special furniture.
A telling example can be found in lines 50-55: “She´d soon discovered in herself an unsuspecting talent for transforming old junk into beautiful furniture.“ In fact of that Jenny likes to go into second-hand-shops and likes to do car boot sell (lines 45-49).
That is the reason why Jenny starts a big career as an interior decorator and she earns more money then she believed.
An other personallity feature is her cat friendliness. Tabitha, shortly called Tabby, is Jenny´s beloved cat with that she has some rituals (2. column, lines 1-13). It can be concluded that they have a close relationship. Contrary she does not like Will´s dog Brustus, because .....[read full text]
