Marketing is about indentifying and meeting human and social needs. So this needs can be met by choosing target market and getting, keeping and growing customers through creating, delivering and communicating superior customer value. So be it any business, a large scale industry or small firm, it requires marketing to sell a product as creating and selling a product is a part of marketing.

It is not necessary to have marketing personnel in business to handle this. In small businesses owner handles all aspect of business including marketing.

  • Need, want and demand.

We market shirting fabrics as a product. Need that we cater of customer is the basic need of clothing of human being. Want of customer would be of wearing shirts to satisfy need of clothing. And the demand of customers would be wearing shirts with fashionable designs and colours and that would be backed by good brand name.

  • Value delivery process

Assessing marketing opportunities and customer value

There were many marketing opportunities available to cater analysed demand of clothing. So we can make shirts fabrics, t shirts, shirt maker as a garment manufacturer, suiting fabrics, jeans fabrics etc. But we selected shirting fabrics, main reason being that previously we were dealing in trading shirting so we were having good amount of knowledge how the market works.

Being textile market so flexible and broad, we were having choice of selecting any customer value that we want to cater. We could have catered to customers demanding shirting which are expensive ranging 200rs or 250rs a meter or low quality shirting of 25rs a meter.

We selected slightly above then lower so provide shirting of around 55rs a meter. The reason was that India is having huge population with lower and middle class people who can’t afford expensive shirting. Generally this type of people lives in villages or outskirts of city area.

Designing value

We create value by having good quality product and have a innovative designs and colour range. Quality of product is measured in terms of thickness, smoothness and brilliancy of colours in printing. So we take at most care that where ever our product is processed, the quality is of top level and we explore market regularly to get innovative designs.

So this way we create customer value by providing them good quality and designs at prevailing market rate.

Delivering value

We don’t deal with end customers. So we deliver value to our customer by getting orders through route of agents and delivering them on time as per requirement.

Our value is communicated through agents as they endorse our product. We don’t involve in other marketing communication tactics.
