A great man once said; “live as if you were to die tomorrow, learn as if you were to live forever”. Education is the key to life and the door of mine is to become an inspired Journalist. International, national and local news makes the public aware of the current affairs that are taking place in present day society. Without the media, people wouldn’t be aware of the world we live in and the media indeed, influences the minds of individuals. A real Journalist searches for the truth and digs out the correct information, so that honesty, sincerity and integrity remains intact within our lives. Finding the truth and exposing lies is what I am committed to do and studying Journalism as my chosen degree would enable me to do so.

The media has a great influence on a person’s way of life and in acknowledging this, people have the right to read true factual information. I respect the competition for Journalism out there and understand many want to get involved with the fast-paced media. My dedication to tackle challenges and obstacles will help contribute to productive work being produced. As an ambitious and a highly motivated individual, powered by the desire and dedication to aim high, I am determined to pursue a career in Journalism.

Following the steps of Alex Jones, Seymour Hersh and more, Journalism has inspired me to write and become involved as an active member of society. Having a twitter account enables me to interact with thousands of people all over the world, share opinions and participate in discussions. Also, being involved in numerous blogging websites has enabled me to put forward my views. This has allowed me to challenge other ideologies, justify my reasons and has given me a voice. Likewise, the opportunity to participate in debates, online and in class, has allowed me to debate effectively. This shows how passionate I am and I strive to never give up.

By studying A-levels in English Literature and Language, History and BTEC Level 3 Business, I am ready to take the next level and study my soul-longing career. The courses I chose were designed to help develop my essay writing skills, as well as observing and collecting precise information. History has given me an insight into the development of media and how it influences each historic period, whereas English has shown the development of language, form and style.

Writing and reading are a true passion of mine. Reading allows me to drift to a world full of imagination and knowledge. Creative writing has always been my favourite aspect of English and the positive response from my teachers have encouraged my desire to improve and work on these attributes. Having read great pieces of literature, such as Conrad’s ‘Heart Of Darkness’ my knowledge has increased on the reality of our world and has enabled me to see the world from different perspectives.

By becoming a part of your University, I will experience a very different life and widen my horizons. As well as completing a Journalism course, the experience will help me spend time with new people from various backgrounds and help me get a wider attitude and understanding of the minds and opinions of others. The world consists of many people with diverse personalities and the University will help me meet some, by allowing me to socialise with them. Your University is the right kind of environment for me and I believe that I will bring a great amount of energy, enthusiasm and commitment. My capacity for producing high quality work shows I am a hard-working student who will not bring disappointment. My dedication for the course will definitely bring focus and concentration to my work.

My ability to work well under pressure and to analyse vital information contributes to my wish to study Journalism at higher level and to enhance my academic skills, so that it will be used effectively in the future. Journalism is truly the right path for me.
