Short summary (London,
Paris, Rome, Berlin)
London
The capital of England and the United Kingdom is
located at the river Thames in southern England. London is also called City of
Westminster and since centuries the most important city of the British island
and home of the British monarchy. Therefore you can find many important
buildings within this city, like: St. Pauls Cathedrale, Big Ben the bell tower
of the Palace of Westminster, Westminster Cathedral, The Tower and close by the
Tower Bridge a famous sight and symbol for London.
The residence of the monarchy is the Buckingham Palace.
Beside the buildings London has also many parks and public places to see, such
as the famous Hyde Park, Trafalga Square and last but not least Picadilly.
In the year 2000 London got another sight, the “London Eye” Europes largest
Ferries Wheel.
Paris
The city of Paris is not only the capital of France,
but in fact really the center of all activities of the French. All routes are
directed and finally end in Paris. If you talk about Paris everybody
immediately thinks about the “Tour Eiffel” a tower which was planned to be
build only for the world exhibition which took place, but still exists as the
“Parisienne” liked it very much. The “Louvre” is the world most known museum
and hosts the famous “Mona Lisa”. Other sights of Paris are the “Arc de
Triumphe” the famous churches “Sacre Ceure”
and “Notre Dame” as well as the big
streets with cafe´s and restaurants. In general Paris is known as the center of
“Cuisine” as the French call the kitchen.
Close to Paris you can also visit the famous castle of the French kings called
“Versailles”, one of the largest castles world wide.
Rome
The City of Rome is not only the capital of Italy
but the most important and famous city in Europe at all. Founded by the Romans
333 b.C. it was the capital of the roman emporium for hundreds of years. Many
artifacts on the “Forum Romanum” still can be seen. The “Colosseum” the largest
theater of the Roman world is of course also in Rome.
But there is much more to see: The river Tiber, crossing the city, the Spanish
Stairs, the “Trevi fountains” and many churches.
Rome also includes the Vatican, which is not a part of Rome but an independent
state and center of the catholic world. St Peters Basilica, also named as “San
Pietro in Vaticano” by the Italians is the main church where the pope
celebrates the divine services. Worth to see is also the museum of the Vatican
with famous paintings, statues and historical artifacts. Michelangelo was
working here as well.
Numerous tourists visit the city every year, enjoying the sights and also the
famous Italian food.
Berlin
Berlin, the well known capital of Germany was
divided into two parts by a big wall after world war 2nd an has been
re unified again in 1998 and then became the official capital of Germany. There
are many things to be seen and visited in this big city. The most well known
building is the “Brandenburger Tor” a gate build by the Prussian Kings for
their Glory. Close you will find the “Hohler Zahn” how the Berlins call the
“Gedächniskirche”, the relicts of a church reminding to the destructions by the
world war.
The house of Parliament, the TV Towers, the Zoo are also well known sights of
the city. There are also large parks and for shopping the famous “Kuhdamm”
