HENRY VIII by -12- GK 1. General Information Henry VIII. Tudor was born at the 28th June of 1491 in Greenwich and he died at the 28th January 1547 at the Whitehall-Palac­e in London. He was the King of England from the 21th April 1509 until his death. Henry VIII. is very popular and famous because of his six wives. And he is also known for his role in the separation of the Church of England from the Roman Catholic Church. He himself was the Supreme Head of the Church of England. Also he was interested in the navy, so he builds up one of the biggest naval at his time, for the future of England this fact is very important. 2. Childhood and becoming King Henry was the third child of Henry VII. and his wife Elizabeth of York, so he never expected that he would be the King of England any times. Because of his older brother Arthur, who would pass the throne Henry was prepared for a life in the church. He spoke and learned Latin, French and Spanish fluently. O. HENRY – THE GIFT OF THE MAGI
O. Henry is a pen name of an American short story writer William Sydney Porter.
His famous short story „The Gift of the Magi“ was published for the first time on 10th December 1905 in The New York Sunday World and later in his collection „The Four Million“ in April of the following year.
Della is a young lady who lives with her 22-year-old husband James Dillingham Young in a humbly furnished abode which costs 8 dollars per week.
