  1. What is drug?
    A drug is any chemical you take that affects the way your bodyworks

Heroin, alcohol, ecstasy, caffeine and nicotine are all forms of drugs.

A drug must be able to pass trough your body and into your brain, allowing brain cells to be changed by interfering with the brains chemical signals.

  1. Meaning of addiction
    Addiction is the habitual, psychological and physiological dependence or practice, which is beyond voluntary control.

  2. How drug addiction begins?
    Curiosity, friends pressure, frustration and depression, desire for more work, looking for a different world, relief from pain.

  3. History of drugs
    When chinese immigrants came to California in the 1850's to work in gold mines and on the railroads, they brought opium smoking with them.

During the 1960's addiction of drugs like marijuana and cocaine came on the scene.

  1. Drug addicts before and after
    Here are some drug addicts who are cosuming drug for years and they became addicted to drugs, you can see their transformation.

  2. Sings someone is using drugs
    To hang out in school with kids who use drugs
    sleep a lot ( even in a class)

  3. Most commonly used addictive drugs
    Heroin – proccessed directly from the extracts of the opium poppy.
    Cocaine – its obtained from the leaves of the coca plant
    Crack cocain – freebase from cocaine that can be smoked
    LSD – produced in crystal form in illegal laboratories.

  • Hard and soft drugs
    Hard drugs are physically addictive and may be easy to overdose on
    soft drugs are not physically addictive

  • Death from drugs
    Drug abuse kills about 200,000 people worldwide each year, according to a new United Nations (UN) report. Global treatment for drug
    abuse would cost $250 billion per year if everyone who needed help received proper care

  • What can you do to help
    The best thing to do is to tell an adult that you trust (parent, other relative, teacher, coach)
    The person might need professional help to stop using drugs. A grown up can help the person find the treatment he or she needs to stop using drugs
    Understanding drugs and why they are dangerous is a good step for a kid to take.
